Art Styles Refresher/Which -ism is it??

During the Renaissance, artists made great strides in presenting realism in their artwork. The paintings from this time looked more like the real world and had believable depth and figures that actually looked human. With the introduction of Modern Art the whole purpose of art changed: artists were no longer interested in using their canvases as a window to the world but were instead focused on the canvas as a surface for their thoughts and ideas and feelings. As a result there was an explosion of art styles: Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Surrealism, Dada, Minimalism, etc. What influenced the creation of some of these styles? What do the styles look like? Who were some of the artists practicing each of these styles? This course provides a "refresher" on the history of art styles.
